NOTES ON #3

NOTES ON "3"

"Broken Shards
of Bar Charades"

Muppoem #3...NO, I HAVE TO PEE! BRB!

& OKay, this piece connects to The Muppet Show Season Ones's episode with Rita Moreno! (yyyyaaaaayyyyyaaaayyyyyy!)

& Honestly, I prefer not to explain my Self too much when it comes to my poems... It has always been this way... people say, "well I really like it, but I just don't get it..." Ooof! So I explain & then they are happy & move on. But doesn't anyone want to do the work his or her self any more?! It's like no one has any time to read these days & if readers think there is some sort of "answer," then they think there isn't more to learn or for one to understand, which defeats the whole idea of poetry.

& Sometimes a connection is conceptual, and sometimes it is literal.  Sometimes a line or word connects with more than one scene of an episode, or one fact connects with multiple different lines or words, or perhaps an idea came from the initial hem, and the pieces that connect are only the lines and words of the actual poem on the page. What is important will be your own connections...

& However, since there is the line "all the lines were set” in this one, I will use this poem to specifically point out a few references so that y'all can get more of an idea of how to find connections within all the books.

& This poem explores building a relationship while having a relationship with the bar scene at the same time!  There is a simple rhyme tango in this ballad with many plays on the "bars" of music as each meter always changes to symbolize the staggering and inconsistent nature of the repetitive "running gag."

& "Single snaps of time" comes from West Side Story, which stars Miss Moreno.  There is also a very distinct snap in Little Willie John’s song“Fever” & Frankie Lymon’s “Goody Goody” to top it off! O SNAP!

& Miss Moreno not only won an Emmy for this episode, but also won a Tony, Oscar, and Grammy in her amazing career, and so that bEGOT the lines,"Trophies by chance running" as well as "working all the bases." She makes it look like a snap! Right?

& The opening hangover in this poem (with "head pounding and wailing") connects with Marvin Suggs’ “Lady of Spain” in this infamous episode.

& "Tomorrow is confusing with stiff aches of yesterday" connects with the gang’s song “To Morrow,” as well as "(shark) Infested water colors. All days blended together."

& "Blacked-out night," "Lines made to cross cause fevers," & "Symbols for communication,” were inspired by Animal and Moreno’s renowned finale to the episode.
